The debate over whether or not diesel is truly worth it has been going on since man invented fire (well not that long but you get what I'm saying). In the car world there are 3 kinds of people. There are your standard run of the mill gasoline users (like myself), there are the environmentally conscious hybrid/electric people and of course there are the most set in their ways; the diesel users. Though I am not going to favor for or against them, I have compiled a list of the 5 advantages of diesel.
1) The main draw to diesel is its gas mileage. Compared to most standard gasoline engines, diesel engines get 25%-30% better gas mileage. In all honesty sounds pretty darn good! I don't think anyone could complain about that!
2) Next to a fully electric car, diesel is the most environmentally friendly fuel out there! Given its higher usable energy than gasoline, it typically gets a higher fuel economy.
3) Diesel engines are built to withstand higher compression. Meaning that they last a longer than gasoline engines!
4) Since Diesel engines don't have spark plugs or distributors, They don't need any sort of ignition tune up!
5) Diesel engines produce a lot more torque making the take off a lot faster. Definitely making the drive a lot more interactive!
