Jay Leno's large personality may make him seem like a one-man show, but even this automotive aficionado knows when to ask for a little help.
When he set out to restore his favorite Mercedes-Benz, a 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3, he wasn't sure whether he should nurse it back to its original state or resto-modify it with a contemporary powertrain. Well, the public spoke and the consensus was to keep it stock, so Leno set out to rejuvenate this old timer with a new ticker -- a 6.3L V8 to be exact. Even by today's standards, that's a hefty engine, and its unusual potency was a revolutionary move for a brand that had been relatively conservative in its engine choices up to that point.
