August 21st 2014-Lori LaJoie Charity Golf Tournament

At 7am today, the 39th Annual Lori LaJoie Charity Golf Tournament teed off. This members only golf tournament hosted at the Worcester Country Club aims to raise money for the Seven Hills Foundation. This foundation supports programs that aid those with special needs and their families. The tournament was started by Ray and Coco Lajoie and named after their late daughter who tragically passed away in 2001.

With the tournament's 39th kick off, Mark Fuller, a member of the committee who helps plan the tournament sat down with me to discuss the uniqueness of the tournament. "Not only is this one of the longest running tournaments in the area, it is very uncommon for a private club to host an event for this long" Fuller said. This tournament is an exclusive event that is strictly members only. Mark and Karen Wagner, both being members of the Worcester Country Club, feel a strong tie to this event and contribute every year for well over 10 years. "Wagner [Motor Group] has a lot of customers and friends at the country club". This tie alone keeps the Wagner Motor Group active in this event and other Worcester Country Club events.

The event is an all day affair complete with two tee off times (morning and afternoon), a cocktail hour at the end of the afternoon round, silent auction and a full dinner for the participants of the of the event. With the hopes of raising $230,000, this event is sure to be another successful one.

This year, Wagner Motor Group offered a new vehicle to anyone who could sink a hole in one on the 8th hole of the course. "There has not been any winners yet but the 39th year could be the year" Fuller said. Along with sponsorship of the event, Wagner Motor Group plans on participating year after year.
