Many auto enthusiasts out there in the Shrewsbury, MA area have probably heard of the popular game Gran Turismo before in the past. It is best known for its amazing scenery and high performance vehicle offerings. Dedicated fans are now anxiously awaiting the sixth installment of the game which is being released in December, the night before its 15th anniversary. It will feature a range of new virtual rides, one of which was designed by Mercedes-Benz.
The concept model is called the Mercedes-Benz AMG Gran Turismo, and is very futuristic in style and design. The vehicle draws a lot of its inspiration from the Mercedes-Benz SLS-Class with its gull-winged doors and twin-turbocharged AMG V-8 engine. This powertrain can cranks out 585 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. It will certainly offer drivers some exciting virtual speed when navigating the various roadways that the game has to offer.
Also adding to its performance is its unique carbon-fiber build that makes the vehicle more aerodynamic. Combined this with its weight-to-power ratio of 5.3 Ibs per horsepower, and AMG composite ceramic brakes, and we've got ourselves a virtual concept car that will certainly be a great choice for beating out competition.
As for its interior, which is also important for a vehicle even in the virtual world, it was designed based on Formula-1 vehicles. It adopted the floating instrument panel and other innovative elements that are typically found in racecars. We would certainly love to see a life-size version of this speedy vehicle, but for now it looks like the only way to get behind the wheel will be by playing the video game.
