This is why we were thrilled to learn that the recently released 2013 Prospect Satisfaction Index (PSI),rated Mercedes-Benz dealerships the highest in terms of how customers were treated when shopping for a new Mercedes-Benz vehicle.

The study was performed for the seventh year in a row by the Pied Piper consulting firm. This year the results actually reset the industry average to a score of 100, with positive findings from a majority of the dealerships. Mercedes-Benz leads the pack with a score of 113, while auto brands in last place registered 88 and 89 for their scores.

In order to determine the satisfaction score of each brand, over 5,000 "mystery shoppers" were hired to visit various dealerships throughout the United States. These visits took place between July 2012 and this past June. The success of each dealership was dependent on the specific factors that contribute the most to sales and make customers feel the most welcome. These vary for each individual dealership.

A report by the The Washington Post about the study went into detail explaining the findings, stating, "Comparing the 2013 results to those of last year, salespeople are now more likely to mention different finance or leasing options, ask about a trade-in, or ask about factors preventing purchase, while they're less likely to offer a brochure, use visual aids, or discuss features that are unique versus the competition."1
