When checking out the new Mercedes-Benz inventory in the greater Shrewsbury area, you might be looking for a vehicle that offers safety, reliability and performance. Well you're in luck! To continue its commitment to developing safer vehicles, Mercedes-Benz is developing more innovative technology to be included in upcoming models.

Driving the wrong way down a one way road could prove to be a fatal mistake. In order to prevent this from happening, the automaker has developed the Intelligent Drive feature. This safety system alerts the driver when the vehicle is in the danger of passing a sign that reads no-entry or wrong way. It does this by emitting three loud beeps and displaying a "no-entry" symbol on the center display for easy viewing. In the event that poor visibility prevents the system from detecting signage, it simply displays "temporarily unavailable" until the conditions improve.

This system works by gathering information from a camera that is mounted on the windshield. It compares this to the vehicle's navigation system and then notifies the computer controller to generate the warning. It is technology like this that brings Mercedes-Benz one step closer to paving the way to accident free driving.

The Intelligent Drive system will be making its way to the Mercedes-Benz of Shrewsbury in the redesigned S-Class and E-Class models in the near future. As one of the leading automakers promoting safety technology, we are excited to see what else is in store for the future.
