Mercedes-Benz has been researching head-up display systems for quite some time now, leaving many to wonder whether or not it would ever be a feature available to the new Mercedes-Benz lineup. With some additional fine-tuning, the automaker has confirmed it is slated to arrive in 2014.

What exactly does this technology involve? Similar to modern HUD systems that have been introduced to the market, the Mercedes-Benz system allows for helpful information to be projected onto the windshield. Drivers are given easy access to navigation, speedometer ratings, and safety and warning features.

The main reason for the automaker's hesitation to employ this type of technology, was because there was a major concern that it would be a distraction to drivers. Over the past few years however, other brands have released versions of the HUD system that have proven to be quite popular. In fact, it is predicted there are now about 1.2 million vehicles sold globally that feature this technology.

When models like the new C-Class and S-Class are introduced next fall, they will feature a new version of the HUD system. The automaker plans to begin introducing in to more of the lineup as well. We are certainly looking forward to testing out this innovation and experiencing the convenience it brings to Shrewsbury, MA drivers.
