This past spring, our favorite maker of luxury vehicles showcased its fresh 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class to an audience of adoring fans at the New York Auto Show. Turns out, attendees of the automotive event aren't the only ones head-over-heels for the premium SUV line. The auto experts at Motor Trend just named the GL-Class their "SUV of the Year."
Put simply, Edward Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend, says, "The goal of the award is to name the SUV that best meets our six criteria, and none...managed to do that better than the GL-Class."1
Specifically, the aforementioned "six criteria" include the following:
- advancement in design
- engineering excellence
- efficiency
- safety
- value
- performance of intended function
Available in three different variants, the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class ranges in power from 240-hp to 429-hp and is likely to even have an AMG installment on the way. This GL63 AMG should pack 550-hp and hit a 4.9-second 0-to-60 sprint time. Not bad for a full-sized SUV, eh?
Of course, this isn't the first time Motor Trend has recognized the outstanding capabilities of the GL-Class. A previous generation was awarded the "SUV of the Year" title back in 2007 as well.
Mercedes-Benz of Shrewsbury, serving , maintains that the best way to get a full account of the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class would be to swing by and speak with our eager team of luxury brand ambassadors at your earliest convenience.
