When you think of Mercedes-Benz you might not immediately draw a parallel to rap music...Or, maybe you do. Regardless, the luxury automaker recently joined forces with rap icon Mike D from the Beastie Boys to put on a 17-day, arts, music and culinary extravaganza at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. We have to say, it sounds like a very sweet time was had.

First, event sponsor Mercedes-Benz showcased their all-new, super-sexy "Concept Style Coupe" for the very first time. Judging from attendees' feedback, it was one of those white lights, singing-on-high kind of moments. Word on the street has it that the concept will eventually head to production under the CLC-Class nameplate.

While Mercedes-Benz of Shrewsbury will keep you informed as to what Mercedes-Benz ultimately decides, for now, we leave you with a telling quote from Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman, Board of Management, Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. "The Concept Style Coupe is expressive and powerful in its design," he says. "We are staking our claim very clearly here. This is the model against which sporty vehicles in the executive segment will have to measure themselves in the future."1

Second, seeking to bring the good people of LA a sensory awakening experience, Mike D enlisted  more than just riveting design and art to debut at the show. Musicians and chefs were busy engaging audiences, too.

Take Roy Choic, Chief Chef, Kogi Korean BBQ Food Truck, for example. Mike D. raves, "This LA native represents truly global vision and tastes that can be LA at least in a culinary way. Roy truly amazes me with his ability to reinvent...cuisines...His work is really analogous with what a hip hop producer or DJ does, chopping up a sample...re-contextualizing it, adding beets..."2
